For the community: The partnership aims to support the local community by utilizing a portion of the proceeds from the solar parks for sustainable initiatives within the municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede. This allows residents of Cothen, Langbroek, and Wijk bij Duurstede to benefit from the proceeds of the energy transition in their own living environment. LC Energy developed a total of twenty hectares of solar parks within the municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede, which produce a significant amount of green energy. The Wijks Omgevingsfonds (Wijk Environmental Fund) was established to channel a portion of the proceeds from these solar parks back to the entire community. Other solar park developers within the municipality will also contribute to this fund.
Sustainable initiatives: The Wijks Omgevingsfonds is an initiative of the EigenWijkse Energie Coöperatie (EWEC), Stichting Binding, and the Vereniging Natuur en Milieu Wijk bij Duurstede (VNMW). The fund will receive a portion of the proceeds from the planned solar fields. This money will be made available for sustainable projects and initiatives that promote the livability and sustainability of the community. This can range from projects to combat energy poverty to neighborhood greening and the organization of sustainable events. The community is encouraged to collectively establish sustainable initiatives and apply for funding through the fund.
The Wijkerbroek East and Wijkerbroek West solar parks have been providing green energy since November and can supply 7,000 households with green power together. Approximately €20,000 per year will be made available through the fund on behalf of our solar parks. LC Energy develops solar parks with respect for nature and residents. LC Energy originated from two experienced market players: Low Carbon from London and the sustainable energy engineering firm QING from Arnhem.
